Salute to Our Flag

The 13th Annual "Salute to our Flag" was celebrated on Sunday February 14th at the Markville Shopping Centre to mark the 45th anniversary of our Canadian flag. John Webster, Markham Town Crier began the festivities and John Hawco, Proud to be Canadian Founder, welcomed all. Bill Crothers and Ray Young, Olympic torch bearers assisted in the raising of the flag and students from Legacy Public School sang the Flag Day theme song which they had composed. Government representatives brought greetings from their respective levels. The Legacy students also sang a Canadian Olympic song which was composed by their teachers. The event concluded with the singing of O Canada.
