T&T Grand Opening
Walking into the new T&T Supermarket in Markham, shoppers are immediately greeted with a wave of red festive decorations in place of the familiar green that is signature to all T&T stores. With the excitement of Chinese New Year around the corner, T&T opened the doors to its 21st store in Canada and officially kicked off the
ethnic supermarket’s festive celebrations for the lucky Year of the Dragon. The grand opening ceremony featured a spectacular Chinese lion dance and drum performance, and ceremony guests shared in the luck of the new store by filling their own traditional Chinese New Year “Tray of Togetherness”, also known as a chyuhn hap. The platter, traditionally in a circle shape, signifies a “box of completion” that contains different treats symbolizing luck, health, longevity, and prosperity in the coming year for anyone who snacks from it.
